I Joined the "Young Republicans" in 1958 at the age of 18 and have carried Republican credientials ever since. However the GOP has moved so far to the right over the years that I now sometimes find myself in the other camp. I consider myself a Moderate and I try to understand both sides of the arguments. Thus the title "In the Middle of the Issues"
A Birher said; "Those that attack Birthers do not really understand why they think it is important."
Those that attack "Birthers" understand that "BIRTHERS" don't understand that our Government, with every possible resource we have, FBI, CIA and Super Snope agencies you and I don't even know about, totally and thoroughly vett the background of everyone that works in the White House, ESPECIALLY the President!
Anyone that is naive enough to believe that there is even the MOST REMOTE chance that Barack Obama is not qualified as a citizen to sit as President, either simply does not WANT to believe anything else, are one of those people that are unable to change their minds about something they once thought might be true, or they just enjoy belonging to a cult of ignorant idiots.
Either way, once I know you are a Birther, I file you away with my group of MCF's (Misguided Conspiracy Freaks) ie; "The U.S. Government was behind the 9/11 attack", "The moon landing was recorded in a Hollywood studio" and "The earth is flat" (that group has been disbanded) and I avoid any further interaction with you, because IMO, if one is ignorant enough to believe any of the above, either they are practicing selective ignorance, or they lack the intelligence to effectively debate any other topic.
I view the birther movement as a political counter-weight to the "Bush never got elected" crowd. I think it's the philosophy of "you said that my President was never legitimate, so I'm saying that yours isn't" It's silly, but what can you do? Political Re-education camps? Humm....
